Say 1
What changed
The name, the logo, the website, or all three. Say it in one plain line.
One email, one post, one FAQ and one note for partners. Short, clear and ready to fill in.
A good rebrand announcement says three things: what changed, why it changed, and what stays the same for the customer. Keep it short and lead with the customer, not the logo.
Send it in this order: team, then customers and partners, then the public. Below are four templates to copy, a timeline and a check so nothing is missed.
People only want to know a few things. Answer them in the first lines.
Say 1
The name, the logo, the website, or all three. Say it in one plain line.
Say 2
One honest reason. "We grew from one product to three" beats "a bold new chapter".
Say 3
Same team, same product, same contracts, same support email. This is what customers worry about most.
The "why" comes from your positioning. If you cannot say it in one line, fix that before you announce. The whole process is in my B2B rebrand checklist.
Send it from a real person, not "no-reply". Keep it under 150 words.
Subject: [Old name] is now [New name] Hi [first name], Today [Old name] becomes [New name]. Why: [one honest reason, e.g. we now do more than one product, and the old name only fit the first one]. What stays the same for you: - Your account, contract and prices - Your team contacts and support at [support email] - The product you use every day What changes: - Our name and logo - Our website, now at [new URL] (the old one sends you there) - Invoices will show [New name] from [date] Questions? Just reply to this email. [Your name] [Role], [New name]
Update your email signature before you send it, so the first mail already shows the new name.
Leave your email. I design them by hand and send them to you within 48 hours. It costs you nothing.
I write to you from [email protected]. If you do not see it, check spam.
Lead with the story, not the logo. Put the logo in the image, not in every line.
[Old name] is now [New name]. [Number] years ago we started with one job: [first job]. Today we [what you do now, for whom]. The old name did not say that anymore. The new one does. What changes: our name, our look and our website. What stays: the same team, the same product and the same people you talk to. Thank you to every customer who helped us get here. See the new site: [link]
Then update the company page and every team banner on the same day. See the LinkedIn company page branding kit and the LinkedIn banner size guide for teams.
Put the FAQ on your site. Send the partner note a week before the public post.
CUSTOMER FAQ Why did you change your name? [one honest reason] Do I need to do anything? No. Your account and contract stay the same. Will my invoices change? Yes, they show [New name] from [date]. Bank details [stay the same / change, see below]. Is the old website gone? It sends you to [new URL]. Who do I talk to? The same people as before, at [email]. PARTNER NOTE Hi [name], a heads-up before it goes public: on [date] [Old name] becomes [New name]. New logo files and short rules: [one link] Please swap the logo on your site and in decks after [date]. Thanks, [your name]
Partners need one link with the new files and a few rules, not the whole book. See how to share logo files and how to share brand guidelines with agencies.
Free tool
After a rebrand, AI tools often keep the old name and the old story. See what AI says about you today. It is free and runs right here.
Most mistakes come from telling people in the wrong order.
| When | Who | What |
|---|---|---|
| 2 weeks before | Your team | The why, the new name, a short FAQ, new signatures and banners ready |
| 1 week before | Key customers and partners | A personal note and the new logo link |
| Launch day | All customers | The announcement email |
| Launch day | Public | LinkedIn post, new website, updated company page |
| First week | Search and AI | Redirects, new name everywhere, check what AI says about you |
| First month | Everyone | Remove the old logo from every template and folder |
If your website moves to a new domain, set up 301 redirects and use the Change of Address tool in Google Search Console. AI tools take longer. Read why ChatGPT says wrong things about your company.

Tell your team first, then key customers and partners, then everyone else on one launch day. Say what changed, why, and what stays the same.
The new name, one honest reason, what stays the same for the customer, what changes, and who to ask. Keep it under 150 words.
Post the story in plain words with the new look in the image. Update the company page and team banners on the same day.
Tell your key customers a week before with a personal note. Nobody likes to find out from a LinkedIn post.
Google can take weeks. AI tools can take longer. Redirects, the new name on every page and clear facts on your site help.
