Step 1
Pick one shape
Use the simplest part of the logo. Draw it clean, as a vector.
Take one shape from your logo, repeat it with care, and you have a background that no other brand has.

To make a brand pattern from your logo, pick one simple shape from it, like the mark or one letter. Repeat it on an even grid, set the spacing, limit it to one or two brand colours, and test it on a post, a slide and a banner.
Keep the pattern calmer than the logo. A pattern is a background, not a second logo.
Not the whole logo. One simple part.
| Part of the logo | Works when | Watch out |
|---|---|---|
| The mark | It is simple and bold | Detailed marks get busy when repeated. |
| One letter | The wordmark has a strong letter | Small letters blur. |
| A corner or curve | The logo has a clear signature line | Make sure it still feels like you. |
| The whole logo | Rarely | It reads like a watermark. Keep it for light merch. |

If the logo files are not clean, fix that before anything else. See which logo files you need.
This works in any design tool.
Step 1
Use the simplest part of the logo. Draw it clean, as a vector.
Step 2
Grid, brick or scatter. Grid is calm. Scatter is lively.
Step 3
Equal gaps. A pattern with uneven gaps looks like a mistake.
Step 4
One or two brand colours. Try a softer tone for backgrounds.
Step 5
Make three sizes: small for banners, medium for posts, large for signs.
Step 6
A post, a slide, a banner. Does the text stay easy to read?

A pattern repeats your logo shape, so the shape must be clean. Upload your logo and see its clear space. It is free and runs right here.
Avoid these five and you are most of the way there.
The pattern is one piece of the set. The whole set is in your visual identity system.

Drawing the opening pattern is design work. Making the next fifty backgrounds is not.
A pattern is not a one-time file. Every campaign wants a new crop, a new colour, a new size. If each request goes to a designer, the team waits.
In a Brand OS Portal, Pattern Lab draws patterns from your own logo shape. You choose moving or still, the colour, how many and how big. Then Social Studio and LinkedIn Banners put them to work. The designer sets the brand up. The team does the daily work.

Yes. Pick one simple shape from the logo, repeat it on an even grid, limit the colour and test it on real work.
Rarely. The whole logo reads like a watermark. A mark, a letter or a curve works better.
Keep an SVG master and export PNG at the sizes you need. See SVG vs PNG for logos.
One or two brand colours. More gets noisy.
Free makers can repeat a logo. Check that the result is yours, calm and uses your brand colours and no others.
