Standards
Guidelines as a site
Its Pro plan says "Made for individuals & agencies" and lists 2 seats included and 2 GB per site. Count your editors before you buy.
Six tools a small team can try instead of Frontify, what each one says it does, and when to stay put.
For a small team, the closest Frontify alternatives are Standards and Corebook for online guidelines, Lingo and Brandkit for brand files, and Canva Brand Kit if your team already designs in Canva.
If nobody on your team has time to build and fill a platform, a done-for-you portal is another path. That is what I make with Brand OS Portal. I sell it, so read this list with that in mind.
What each company says on its own site. I left out what I could not check.
| Option | What it says it is | How to try it | Fits best | Look elsewhere if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frontify | Guidelines, portals, assets, templates, analytics | Book a demo or talk to sales | Many users, partners, IT rules | You want to start alone today |
| Standards | Brand guidelines as a website | "Try free" button | Designers, agencies, small teams | You need many editors or lots of storage |
| Corebook | "An online brand guidelines platform for branding teams" | Trial, no credit card | Guidelines and assets on your own domain | You mainly want post templates |
| Lingo | Store, organise and share digital assets | 30-day trial | Teams whose pain is finding files | You want a free plan that lasts |
| Brandkit | "One link. Your whole brand." | Free trial | Marketing teams sharing lots of content | You only need a simple style page |
| Canva Brand Kit | Logos, colours, fonts and assets inside Canva | Part of Canva plans | Teams that already design in Canva | You need one record outside Canva |
| Brand OS Portal | A portal I design and set up for your brand | A 15-minute call | Small B2B teams with no designer on hand | You want to build and edit it all yourself |
Checked on 4 November 2026 on each company's own site. Plans change often, so check again before you buy. No prices here, on purpose.
New to the idea? Start with what a brand portal is, then come back to the list.
Leaving is not always the smart move.
Frontify's own pricing page lists single sign-on, custom permissions, localisation, analytics and integrations. That list matters when IT and legal have a say, or when you run many regions.
Frontify bills by monthly active users. People count if they log in at least once a month, and outside partners who log in count too. People who only view without logging in are not counted.
So count first. If only a few people truly need a login, your bill may be smaller than you think. If many partners log in, it may be bigger.
Free tool
A new tool will not fix weak rules. Answer a few short questions. You get your brand score and the first thing to fix.
Standards and Corebook both turn your guidelines into a website, so you stop sending a PDF.
Standards
Its Pro plan says "Made for individuals & agencies" and lists 2 seats included and 2 GB per site. Count your editors before you buy.
Corebook
Your own domain, an asset library, some parts public and some private. It also lists a way to connect AI assistants to your guidelines.
Still on a PDF? Read PDF guidelines vs a portal and what guidelines should include before you move anything.
Leave your email. I design them by hand and send them to you within 48 hours. It costs you nothing.
I write to you from [email protected]. If you do not see it, check spam.
Lingo
Starter, Business and Enterprise plans. A 30-day trial of Business. An optional Brand Setup service if you want help.
Brandkit
Guidelines linked to files you can download. AI tagging and search. A free trial.
Canva Brand Kit
Logos, colours and fonts right in the editor. Brand Controls can limit people to brand colours and fonts.
Whatever you pick, name your files well. Here is how to share logo files and which logo files you need.
This is the question most lists skip.
Every platform above gives you a place. Someone still has to write the rules, make the templates and keep it fresh. Some vendors offer setup help, so ask what is included.
That gap is where I work. I design the brand by hand, then set up a Brand OS Portal on it. Your team logs in, picks a layout, changes the words and downloads the file.
The honest limits: it is made by one person, me. It is not a tool you can sign up for tonight. If you need a large asset library across many regions, Frontify, Bynder or Brandfolder fit better.
Do not judge from the demo. Give this sheet to someone who is not a designer.

The tool that wins this sheet is the right one, even if it has fewer features. Not sure you need software at all? Read what a Brand OS is first.
Try one Brand OS Portal tool
This is a real tool from a real Brand OS Portal, on the MTG brand. Pick a background and a size. The portal hands you the right logo file.
Some tools have free trials, and Canva has a free plan with a basic Brand Kit. For a very small team, a short guide plus a shared folder can be enough to start. See one-page brand guidelines.
It depends on how many people need to log in and edit. Prices change often, so compare plans on each company's own page on the day you buy.
It can be, but it is built with big teams in mind: single sign-on, permissions, many partners. Small teams often need less.
Frontify is a brand platform for guidelines, files and portals. Canva is a design tool with a Brand Kit inside it. Many teams use both.
Yes. Keep it as your record. Every tool here can sit next to it. See PDF or portal.
You can book a 15-minute call. If a tool on this list fits you better than my work, I will say so.
